INTRODUCTION: Ectopic mediastinal parathyroid adenoma is a rare cause of primary hyperparathyroidism, which is characterized by the excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Complete surgical resection is essential for curative treatment, making accurate intraoperative localization of the tumor a critical challenge. While superior mediastinal tumors have traditionally required invasive procedures such as median sternotomy, minimally invasive techniques, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robot-assisted surgery, have recently been adopted. However, in the lateral approach, visualization and instrument maneuverability beyond the left brachiocephalic vein are limited. In this case, we employed a robot-assisted subxiphoid approach combined with radio-navigation and intraoperative frozen section diagnosis for a superior prevascular mediastinal tumor adjacent to the jugular notch.

INTRODUCTION: Bronchiolar adenoma/ciliated muconodular papillary tumors (BA/CMPTs) are rare benign tumors. Because their radiological appearance often resembles that of small peripheral lung cancers, preoperative differentiation remains challenging. Furthermore, BA/CMPTs may be misdiagnosed as adenocarcinomas during intraoperative frozen-section consultations. Here, we report two cases of resected BA/CMPTs with distinct radiological morphologies and discuss their clinicopathological characteristics compared with those of previously reported cases.

INTRODUCTION: Horseshoe kidney (HSK) is the most common renal fusion and malrotation anomaly, and ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) due to high ureteral insertion (HUI) is frequently associated with HSK.

INTRODUCTION: Pancreatic pleural effusion is a rare condition caused by direct leakage of pancreatic fluid into the thoracic cavity, resulting in massive pleural effusion. We report a case of massive pleural effusion due to intrathoracic perforation of a pancreatic pseudocyst successfully treated by thoracoscopic surgery.

INTRODUCTION: High postoperative recurrence and reoperation rates following surgical treatment for intestinal Behçet’s disease (BD) have been reported in adults. In pediatric patients, reports on surgical treatment and clinical course are extremely rare.

Cricotracheal Resection for Subglottic Stenosis following Prior Dissection and Tracheostomy
INTRODUCTION: Cricotracheal resection is a definitive treatment for subglottic tracheal stenosis. This procedure can be challenging in the redo setting.

INTRODUCTION: Although the stomach has a robust intramural microvascular network and is generally considered resistant to ischemia, remnant gastric necrosis after gastrectomy is very rare and potentially fatal. However, diagnosis can be challenging, and optimal management strategies are still not well established.

INTRODUCTION: Pelvic arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare vascular anomalies that may cause marked venous engorgement and increase the risk of massive hemorrhage during pelvic surgery. When rectal cancer coexists with a pelvic AVM, achieving oncological radicality while maintaining surgical safety becomes particularly challenging.

INTRODUCTION: Congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) is a rare developmental anomaly of the fetal tracheobronchial tree. Surgical resection is the primary treatment for CPAM. However, surgery for adult CPAM presents unique challenges due to the potential for severe pleural adhesions, increased risks of excessive blood loss, and prolonged surgical time. This report describes an adult case of CPAM managed with preoperative arterial embolization.

INTRODUCTION: Persistent elevation of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) during chemotherapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is generally regarded as a marker of poor prognosis and systemic disease, often discouraging aggressive local treatment. However, the clinical significance of elevated CA19-9 levels in patients with oligometastatic recurrence remains controversial.

INTRODUCTION: Although gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are more common in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) than in sporadic disease, the role of screening has not been well established. This case report details the successful laparoscopic resection for duodenal and jejunal GISTs detected during a general health check-up in an asymptomatic early-stage patient.

INTRODUCTION: Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a benign, rapidly proliferating fibroblastic lesion that may show 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake on PET/CT, often mimicking malignancy. Postoperative intra-abdominal NF following colorectal cancer surgery is extremely rare.
